Under close supervision of the Director of Athletic Media Relations, this position will serve in a media relations support role for sports assigned by the director.

Responsibilities and Duties

The responsibilities for the Athletics Media Relations Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:

• Serves as the media relations contact for sports assigned by the director
• Provides basic traditional media support and posts content to social media
• Assists the Towson University athletics external team, including fan experience, Towson Sports Network, ticketing, sponsorship, Tiger Athletic Fund, and other entities as necessary

The work hours for this position include nights and weekends, as needed, to support the sports covered. Minimal travel is required. 

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Proficiency in social media platforms, primarily Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram
• Ability to send out press releases quickly and in a professional manner
• Knowledge of statistical programs used by the NCAA, including Statcrew and Genius Sports
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

Salary and Benefits 

$18.22 per hour and a contract offers annual leave, holidays, and sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage.
