Reporting to the Athletic Director, the Business Operations Manager oversees the Athletics budget and related business and reporting functions, maintains financial records, and serves as a resource for division staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
Two years of accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Related experience in college athletics and NCAA expense-related policies.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Ellucian Banner and financial record-keeping software.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary

Working knowledge and understanding of relevant NCAA, Big South Conference and university financial policies and procedures.

Job Summary
Assists in developing the master budget.
Reviews and authorizes athletic expenditures and reimbursements.
Maintains records and produces reports for the NCAA Audit and the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) report.
Signs off on Bank of America credit card transactions.
Helps coaches and athletic administrators understand and manage individual budgets.
Reconciles Winthrop Foundation Athletics account revenues and expenses and updates coaches and staff on balances.
Works with the ticket manager to maintain necessary records related to ticket sales for all events, including proper reporting of deposits and sales.
Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university and state guidelines and makes suggestions for process improvements.
Attends division and university meetings related to finance and budgets.
Provides information to university Finance & Business Affairs staff in a timely manner.
Interprets finance-related policies for coaches and athletic administrators to ensure compliance with university and state fiscal policies and procedures.
