| Job Description Summary |
Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Athletics Department as the Cheer and Dance Coach for the 2025-2026 academic year (August 18, 2025 – May 12, 2026).
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Cheer and Dance program, including recruitment, training, choreography, team management, and event coordination.
The Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and works collaboratively with department staff, other coaches, and university administrators to build a competitive, spirited, and inclusive program. This role also includes regular interaction with the public during home football and basketball events, and serving as a visible ambassador for EOU’s school spirit and athletic excellence.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, and a passion for student-athlete development both on and off the field.

| Responsibilities |
- Provide structure and preparation for all practices and home events
- Coordinate fundraisers, community service projects and appearances as a team
- Ensure coverage and supervision of all home football, and men’s and women’s basketball games throughout the season
- Enforce all cheer and dance and athletic department policies, procedures and team rules
- Coordinate cheer and dance team tryouts

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Experience in coaching, guiding, teaching, and encouraging students toward superior performance and creativity in Cheer and Dance activities
- Expressed interest and knowledge of cheer and dance techniques
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including late nights and weekends
- Must be able to place a strong emphasis on academic integrity, progress and success
- First Aid & CPR certified or the ability to get certified once hired
- Strong communication skills
- Experience working in a team environment
- Experience working with youth or young adults
- Understand the value of strong oversight of academic performance for cheer and dance students

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Direct experience coaching student cheerleading and dance at post-secondary education institution
- Adept in coaching, guiding, teaching, and encouraging students toward superior performance and creativity in Cheer and Dance activities
- Organized, professional and possess a passion for Cheer and Dance
- Ability to effectively work and cooperate with coaches and staff
