Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one year of coaching experience.  This position must have USA cheer certification. Coaching experience in Cheer is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. | | Nature & Purpose of Position |
Serves as a teacher, instructor, and coach in cheer and dance techniques for participation in various Spirit Program events, appearances, competition, and recognized intercollegiate athletic events. | | Primary Responsibilities |
Instructs and coaches student athletes to perform their sport. Provides oversight, team supervision, and scheduling of recruits for prospective student athletes. Adheres to National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and/or National Dance Alliance (NDA) sports rules, conference bylaws, compliance regulations, and conference recruiting rules and policies. Reports any NCA/ NDA and conference violations to the proper personnel. Teaches and instructs student athletes in the rules, techniques, and fundamentals of their sport. Educates student athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts, and safety. Designs performance, routines, and skills mastery for individual or team needs. Evaluates and scores student athlete performance for improvement and mastery. Manages team travel and appearances. Performs other related duties as assigned. | | Other Specifications |
Must have a thorough understanding of NCA/UCA sports rules, compliance regulations and conference recruiting rules and policies. Develops an appropriate rapport with community and university personnel.
