Job Description:

Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Coordinator of Athletic Compliance. This is a 12-month, full-time position. This position will report directly to the Senior Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and Student Services. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.

• Monitor academic, amateurism, eligibility and financial aid rules of the NCAA, Conference USA, and Western Kentucky University.
• Evaluate transcripts for incoming freshmen and transfer student-athletes
• Monitor and assist with the progress of prospective student-athletes through the NCAA Eligibility Center process
• Maintain records of student-athletes outside competition, employment, and other activities related to their amateurism status
• Work alongside the admissions, financial aid, and registrar's offices.
• Monitor and assist with the progress of prospective student-athletes through the institutional admissions process
• Coordinate receipt and distribution of student-athlete transcripts and student records as needed for eligibility and/or waiver purposes
• Interpret and train on NCAA rules, policies and regulations for students, coaches, athletic staff and representatives of athletics interest.
• Coordinate educational sessions with pertinent parties as needed
• Provide rules interpretations to coaches as needed
• Oversee, audit, and review compliance forms, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor new NCAA legislation.
• Report information required by the NCAA and Conference USA.
• Participate with amateurism/agents oversight.
• Participate in the preparation of NCAA squad lists, national letters of intent and financial aid agreements.
• Special projects as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.

Knowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:

• Experience with NCAA waivers, monitoring, and international student eligibility.  Experience working with NCAA Eligibility Center and Compliance Assistant.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to make decisions independently without oversight from supervisors.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
• Must be able to use Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be self-motivated and team-oriented.
• Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
• Must be willing to travel on an occasional basis.
• The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation and customer service.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree.
• At least one year of full-time, part-time, or volunteer experience in a university athletic compliance office.
• Working knowledge of NCAA rules, LSDBi and CA software.

Additional Information:

Hourly Rate:  $19.49 - $21.54
