McMurry University seeks a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Assistant Football Coach with a focus on Defensive Coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing defensive strategies, mentoring student-athletes, and contributing to the overall success of the football program. This role requires a commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes, adherence to
NCAA

III
regulations, and alignment with the university’s mission and values.
12-Month Appointment
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Defensive Strategy Development: Design and implement effective defensive game plans and practice sessions to enhance team performance
Student-Athlete Development: Mentor and support student-athletes in their academic, athletic, and personal growth, ensuring a positive and enriching experience.
Recruitment: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes who align with the university’s academic standards and athletic goals.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to all
NCAA
Division
III
, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and university rules and regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Coach and other staff members to achieve program objectives and foster a cohesive team environment.
Administrative Duties: Assist in scheduling, travel arrangements, equipment management, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Designee
Required Education/Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
· Proven experience in coaching football, with a focus on defensive strategies.
· Strong understanding of
NCAA
Division
III
rules and regulations.
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Commitment to creating a supportive and respectful team environment.
Bachelor’s degree
Master’s degree. Previous experience in coaching or playing assigned sport at the collegiate level.
