Job Summary:

The Deputy Athletics Director is responsible for assisting the Director of Athletics by managing student service-related programs; planning and implementing the University’s long-term gender equity plan. The Deputy will serve as sport administrator of assigned sport teams and programs, as well serve on the department’s senior leadership team.

 

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Recommends improvements in programs by serving on senior leadership team; acting as liaison with and ex officio member of Intercollegiate Athletics Committee; disseminating information, initiating and preparing topics for meetings; and speaking to relevant constituencies.
   
2. Coordinates with the Big 12 Conference by serving as liaison for non-revenue sports governance and conference representation on national committees.
   
3. Manages daily operations by providing academic and personnel management of assigned teams and sports, including women’s basketball.
   
4. Serves as Deputy Title IX Officer, in conjunction with Office of Institutional Equity and institutional Title IX Officer.
   
5. Responsible for student athletes’ academic success by providing oversight for academic services.
   
6. Coordinates and completes conference, NCAA and federal reports; develops and updates departmental and student-athlete policy and procedures handbook.
   
7. Implements and monitors the University’s scholarship programs by serving as liaison between students, faculty and academic departments and other campus services; interpreting academic policies and procedure and curriculum issues.
   
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Sports administrator experience of ticketed, revenue generating sport(s)
• 7 years’ in a senior-level collegiate athletics administrator positions at NCAA, FBS, Division I institution

 

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Masters Degree
• Experience in leadership role in power conference institution

 

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• None

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the navigation of Microsoft Windows.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft office.
• Skill in effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
