The Director of Athletic Communications will perform a variety of necessary duties that support the promotion of our student-athletes, the athletic department, and Emerson College. The Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Sports Information office, including the internal and external department communications and ensuring compliance with all NCAA and conference policies and procedures related to sports information, statistical reporting, and game management. This position supervises the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Communicate and disseminate pertinent sports information to and through the appropriate college, conference, division, and national outlets in a timely manner
• All aspects of game management
• Maintain athletics website and oversee all social media platforms
• Hire, schedule, and train student workers
• Serve as primary media contact
• Serve as liaison to the NEWMAC conference office
• Maintain statistics and required content for all athletic competitions
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS – Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform a job.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in collegiate athletics

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.

• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google applications, Adobe Creative Suite, website management, live streaming, and statistical software
• Game and event management
• Ability to multitask, manage deadlines, and work independently
• Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills Excellent written and oral communication skills including hard news and feature writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage student-workers

• Requires ability to lift and move objects and materials such as speakers, computers, scoreboard, sideline chairs, cameras, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

• Usual Office Conditions
• Outdoor games require work to be performed in hot, cold, rainy, snowy, weather conditions.
• Ability to work an irregular day schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will be between $ 55,600 - $ 68,150 annually, commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: 23-07E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
