Position Summary:
Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for the role of Marketing Associate – Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement within the Athletic Department. This position is responsible for marketing and promotional efforts for the men’s and women’s basketball programs, as well as other designated sports. The primary focus will be on increasing attendance and ticket sales while enhancing the overall fan experience, in compliance with the guidelines of Eastern Illinois University, the Ohio Valley Conference, and the NCAA.

Note: Candidates with extensive experience may be considered for Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Engagement -level appointment.

• Lead marketing, student/community engagement, and promotional efforts for men’s and women’s basketball, as well as other assigned sports.
• Collaborate with communications, media production, ticketing, and event management to prioritize fan experience at basketball events.
• Develop and execute integrated marketing plans using conventional, grassroots, and digital strategies to drive engagement and sales.
• Enhance in-venue experiences for basketball games.
• Write scripts and direct in-game timing for promotions, video board features, music, public address reads, and other elements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead marketing, student/community engagement, and promotional efforts for men’s and women’s basketball, as well as other assigned sports.
• Collaborate with communications, media production, ticketing, and event management to prioritize fan experience at basketball events.
• Develop and execute integrated marketing plans using conventional, grassroots, and digital strategies to drive engagement and sales.
• Enhance in-venue experiences for basketball games.
• Write scripts and direct in-game timing for promotions, video board features, music, public address reads, and other elements.
• Assist in creating and executing sport-specific sponsorship elements to foster an engaging atmosphere.
• Innovate promotional strategies leveraging emerging technologies.
• Work closely with students and campus organizations to boost student engagement and attendance.
• Coordinate and lead fan engagement brainstorming sessions to improve the fan experience.
• Manage the student internship program and assist with digital marketing initiatives.
• Represent the department at internal and external events, including planning and executing community-focused activities.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a related field.
2. Two years (24 months) of professional experience in Athletics in advertising, promotions, public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks.
• Exceptional customer service focus.
• Ability to work a highly variable schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Service- and solution-oriented mindset, prioritizing program needs.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules preferred.

For Assistant Athletic Director-level consideration: Significant experience in athletic marketing leadership, strategic planning, and fan engagement initiatives.

Salary: $4,166.67 monthly; final pay rate offered will be commensurate with experience.
