Position Summary: The Director of Athletic Performance provides expertise, guidance, teaching and training in the area of athletic development for all student-athletes at Houston Christian University.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Serves as a representative of HCU, a Christian university, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the HCU community and with the public.
• Meets with football staff to design and implement program for developing athletic performance.
• Conduct and monitor strength and conditioning programs for football and several other sports with great emphasis on teaching athletes to properly enhance strength and ensure the safety of athletes.
• Coordinates student-athlete rehabilitation with sports medicine; assists with rehabilitation of injured athletes and approves return to play.
• Educates student-athletes about nutrition and supplements.
• Coordinates, maintains, and staffs football weight room/strength facilities; assists in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment.
• Will be required to assist other sports in the area of athletic performance.

• Educates student-athletes about nutrition and supplements.
• Coordinates, maintains, and staffs football weight room/strength facilities; assists in identifying and purchasing needed strength and conditioning equipment.
• Will be required to assist other sports in the area of athletic performance.
• Assist department with data entry and report preparation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attends monthly compliance meetings.
• Must comply with all conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree. Experience in strength and conditioning training for elite-level athletes. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of intercollegiate athletics.

Fiscal Responsibility:

Responsible for purchasing of strength and conditioning supplies and equipment for football weightroom – this will be done along with the Head Football Coach.

Physical Demand:

Heavy lifting required. Must be able to climb stairs. Must be able to operate all equipment within the athletic weight room..

Working Conditions and Environment:

Must be able to work nights and weekends. Must be able to work 40 plus hours per week as schedule demands.
