Job Description

Wabash College seeks candidates for the position of Director of Athletics and Recreation. The Director reports to the President of the College and is a member of the Senior Staff. The Director provides leadership to the Intercollegiate Athletics Department and directs and coordinates the development and administration of all athletic programs in compliance with NCAA regulations.

Specifically, the Director will:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Allen Athletics and Recreation Center and all of the College’s athletic facilities.
  • Supervise the staff of the Athletics Department, including hiring, onboarding, developing, and evaluating coaches and other personnel.
  • Create an environment designed to facilitate the growth and development of individual students as leaders and scholar-athletes, as well as the growth and development of athletic teams and coaches.
  • Have a proven record of experience in athletic recruiting in direct collaboration with the enrollment office to manage institutional enrollment goals.
  • Be responsible for preparing and implementing department budgets, and work collaboratively with the Advancement Office on various fund raising and alumni engagement activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean of Students Office to fully develop the character and leadership abilities of student-athletes.
  • Direct and facilitate a robust series of summer programs and camps in collaboration with coaches and College staff.
  • Be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with campus partners, alumni, and the larger Wabash College community.
  • Engage in the life of the Wabash community as a member of the Senior Staff, including working in partnership with the Dean of the College, the Faculty Athletics Committee, and the faculty as a whole.
  • Represent the College and the interests of its officers, student-athletes, coaches, and staff in service to the NCAA and the North Coast Athletic Conference.
