The Director of Communications/ Sports Information shall have the primary responsibilities of meeting the goals of guiding and leading an elite-level department with effective management; as well as promoting academic achievement and character of the student-athlete, fans, and the University community. This customer-centric role will provide leadership in the wellness center for planning; development; and implementation of the University facilities planning function.

Responsible for the overall management of FMU’s athletic communication department, establishing and adhering to policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines in compliance with the policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines of all University, NAIA, State, and Federal Laws.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
The position requires a bachelor’s degree; a minimum of three years of experience. A master’s degree and experience in higher education are preferred.
An expert communicator.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, faculty, and staff.
A keen ethical awareness.
A team player that works well with others.
Ability to work nights and weekends as required
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, LinkedIn Learning as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Familiar with Jenzabar technology suite or similar student information system for higher education
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours. This position will require the individual to travel and work some nights and weekends.
