Position Overview

Reporting to Deputy Director of Athletics/Chief of Staff, the Director of Strength and Conditioning will design and implement the strength and conditioning program for student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

Program design, guiding student-athletes through a regimen of exercises to optimize performance and decrease injury potential; assisting with the oversight of sport-specific conditioning programs, teaching proper weight lifting, speed, agility and conditioning techniques; encouraging and motivating student-athletes to train and perform to their utmost potential, scheduling athletic teams and supervising workouts of student-athletes; player development, travel, compliance with NCAA regulations; and assisting in the implementation of rehab programs prescribed by the doctors and sports medicine staff. Primary sport assignments include Football, Track and Field, and Women’s Tennis. Some weekend and holiday work will be required based on specific sports seasons and team travel.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Attributes

Education

Bachelor's Degree. NSCA-CSCS and/or CSCCa-SCCC Certification (or equivalent)

Experience

Applicants should have a minimum of five years related work experience; demonstrated experience in administering a successful strength and conditioning program at the collegiate level; thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Must be proficient in the instruction, assessment, evaluation, and supervision of multiple weight lifting techniques; knowledge of use and maintenance of fitness equipment. It is important for candidates to have a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the community. Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. Must be computer literate.
