Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Football Academic Support Intern position for the Academics for Student Athletes at Oregon State University (OSU).This is a paid, 20-hour/week internship. Pay begins at $15.90 and the position can extend through Spring 2024 if desired. The intern will assist the Football Academic Counselor(s) with essential day-to-day operations of academic support programming.

Position Duties

Assist Football Counselor(s) with day-to-day football academic support programming. Communicate with Football Counselor(s) regularly and proactively to address student concerns. Lead weekly or biweekly 1:1 meetings with 3-5 assigned student-athletes to help them build time management, organizational, and study strategies. Support student-athlete course registration by assisting with scheduling and tracking advising appointments. Update TeamWorks, a scheduling platform for football student-athletes Schedule tutoring sessions through GradesFirst for content-specific academic support Uphold a high standard of academic integrity. Abide by FERPA, NCAA, and ASA policies regarding confidentiality and professional distance. Other duties as assigned.

Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite (Excel/Sheets, Word/Docs, PowerPoint/Slides) Ability to maintain a flexible schedule Detail oriented

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Graduate Student on Corvallis Campus – strongly preferred Prior experience mentoring or tutoring college students Experience working with diverse populations Interest in college student support or sports management
