The Graduate Assistant – Coaching position at Aquinas College offers a dynamic opportunity for

Aquinas College. The Graduate Assistant will assist in all facets of team operations, including practice
planning, athlete instruction, recruitment, game preparation, and program administration. They will also
contribute to departmental academic support initiatives under the direction of the Provost. This position is

Aquinas College. The Graduate Assistant will assist in all facets of team operations, including practice
planning, athlete instruction, recruitment, game preparation, and program administration. They will also
contribute to departmental academic support initiatives under the direction of the Provost. This position is

a values-driven athletic environment. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in the Master of Management
(MM) program and are expected to model integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to service.
Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks/Essential Functions:
● Assist the head coach with planning and conducting team practices and training sessions.
● Support student-athlete recruitment by identifying prospects, attending events, and coordinating
campus visits.
● Contribute to game and meet preparation, including scouting opponents and developing strategy.
● Provide one-on-one instruction, mentorship, and feedback to student-athletes to support their
athletic and personal development.
● Help coordinate team travel, accommodations, meals, and scheduling.
● Manage or assist with team social media, communications, and alumni outreach as directed.
● Monitor academic progress of student-athletes in collaboration with academic support services.
● Assist with video analysis, statistics, and post-game reviews.
● Represent the program at department meetings, admissions events, and community service
activities.
● Participate in fundraising efforts to help support the program’s operational needs.
● Complete other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletic director.
Knowledge, Skills and Education Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree required.
● Demonstrated understanding of the sport's techniques, strategy, and rules.
● Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to positively mentor student-athletes.
● Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
● Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, and support staff.
● A high degree of integrity and professionalism with a commitment to student development.
● Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and team travel.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
● Frequent physical activity including walking, running, demonstrating drills, and standing for
extended periods.
● Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive as needed.
● Must be able to lift and transport equipment (up to 50 lbs).
● Indoor and outdoor working environments in various weather conditions.
● Evening, weekend, and travel requirements associated with practice, competition, and recruiting
schedules.
