Position Description
Valley City State University is seeking a Graduate Assistant for our Softball program. This position will assist the head coach with the following duties: scheduling competitions and planning practices with emphasis on defense; implementing strength and conditioning programs, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and retaining student athletes; monitoring annual budgets; arranging team and recruiting travel; fundraising and other departmental duties; fostering strong alumni relations and meeting all institutional, and NAIA rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree by the start date, experience coaching or playing softball, and acceptance into a VCSU graduate program by the upcoming academic year are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coaching and playing softball at the collegiate level, training experience necessary to compete at the NAIA level, highly motivated with an outstanding work ethic, strong organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, proficient with Microsoft Office programs, a valid driver’s license, ability to recruit and communicate with highly talented student-athletes, and knowledge of NAIA national policies, rules, and regulations are preferred.

Compensation
$6,000 stipend for fall and spring semester; free housing; tuition waiver.
