Job Description
The Graduate Assistant of Sports Communication is a position that will aid in the development, planning, and implementation of all aspects of the Sports Information office. In addition, this person will be the primary media contact for selected sports and serve as a secondary contact for Marywood University’s 24 athletics programs. The graduate assistant will assist the Director of Athletic Communications in all aspects of the office on a day-to-day basis. The position also requires event game management, including statistics compilation, live broadcasting, social media production, and other duties as assigned on game day. The Graduate Assistant of Sports Communication will report to the Director of Athletic Communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Represent the Athletics and Recreation Department in an appropriate and professional manner at all times.
2. Assist in the compiling, writing and editing of select athletic program’s news releases and stories.
3. Disseminate results to local print, websites, conference office and NCAA.
4. Assist in the management of social media and digital platforms, including daily score updates of Marywood athletic events.
5. Update the Marywood Athletics content management systems with accurate and timely news and information
6. Assist in the production of livestreaming athletics contests through the Atlantic East Network
7. Develop an appropriate and working knowledge of involved NCAA, Atlantic East Conference, and Marywood athletics policies
8. Know and implement relevant NCAA and Atlantic East policies and regulations
9. Assist the Athletics Department in the hosting of Atlantic East championship events
10. Contribute with operations assistance for postseason and major events hosting responsibilities
11. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation, Assistant Director of Athletics, and Assistant Sports Information Director
12. Understand, agree, and sign annual the Athletic and Recreation Department’s and Atlantic East Conference’s Code of Conduct and Sportsmanship Policy. Act consistently in a manner reflective of its intent.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have strong organizational, writing, oral, and communication skills. The desired candidate should have experience and insight to social media strategies and platforms. Applicants with previous experience in a Sports Information department and a working knowledge of web content management systems, Adobe Photoshop, Stat Crew, Genius, Gipper, and Production Truck will receive top consideration. Applicants must be able to adjust to a flexible work schedule requiring evening and weekend work.
