Position: Graduate Assistant – Women's Basketball** **
Classification: Graduate Assistant- 12 Months- 1508 Hours- 29 hours per week
Description: This position is designed to give the qualified candidate hands on experience with all facets of an intercollegiate basketball program. This is a two year position with the expectation of successful graduation from Carroll University with a Master’s Degree.
Responsibilities:
· Assist head and assistant basketball coaches in practice sessions and games
· Recruiting coordinator for new students/athletes for the basketball program
· Supervise Academic study table sessions
· Camp and Summer League Coordinator for all summer programs
· Assist strength and conditioning coordinator with implementation of program
· Follow all rules and guidelines set forth by all Carroll University, health science department, CCIW, the NCAA, and athletic program policies and procedures including the Athletic Personnel Code of Conduct
· Video tape exchange coordinator for men’s basketball program
· Assist with game planning and scouting reports for all opponents
· Coordinate team travel and meals for road games
· Lead in season skill development sessions with current players
· Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
Qualifications:
· Maintain full time status in an eligible Carroll University graduate program
· Additional approval is required for entrance in graduate programs outside of Education
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· Previous experience in coaching preferred
· Participation in a college level basketball program preferred
· Current valid NSPA Certified Weightlifting Performance Coach (CWPC) certification preferred
Human Relation Skills:
· Ability to function effectively as a team player within the program and athletics department.
· Ability to conduct self in a productive, professional manner at all times, representing Carroll University at the highest level as a role model and mentor for our student athletes.
· A working knowledge of Microsoft word, publisher, excel, and related computer applications vital to organizational skills the ensure success in our program.
· Excellent communication skills as they relate to recruiting, working with parents, alumni, and current student athletes.
Compliance:
Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). The Clery Act requires all prospective employees be notified of the availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety report. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to Public Safety and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
