Under the Direction of the Director of Athletics this position is responsible for providing a positive, efficient and effective experience to the employees, students and stakeholders of Texas A&M University Texarkana. The head coach will direct all facets of a competitive NAIA Baseball program with a special emphasis on recruitment of student-athletes whose educational, athletic, and personal aims are imminently congruent with the University mission. Each coach is responsible but is not limited to practice and game preparation; budgeting; academic support; supervision of assistant and graduate assistant coaches; and insuring the general welfare and the development of the student athlete.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** :**
Coordinate the implementation of the TAMUT Baseball program based on integrity and compliance with all NAIA regulations.
Prepares documents, reports and proposals as required by the Athletic Director.
Implements and administers team rules and discipline policies not less restrictive than the general rules and policies of the TAMUT Athletic Program.
Plans and implements training procedures for individual and team improvement while developing game schedules, practice schedules and travel accommodations as needed.
Supports Registrar and Faculty Athletic Representative in adhering to and maintaining academic eligibility requirements.
Supports the Athletic Trainer in managing athletes’ injuries and in administering the institution’s athletic drug testing policy.
Supports Faculty in accomplishing the academic aims of the institution and ensuring the academic success of student-athletes.
Assist the Athletic Director in activities surrounding community support through fundraisers for the athletic program’s which include baseball camps to enhance community awareness within the sport.
Maintains athletic field and/or facility in a manner to ensure well-being of athletes and viability of athletic competition.
Reinforce the TAMUT culture by demonstrating sportsmanship, integrity, a competitive spirit, and the importance of academic excellence.
Coordinate all game day events – set up/take down of equipment at venue, coordinate clean-up efforts after events.
Meet all visiting opponents and officials and direct them to facilities.
Coordinate scheduling of officials for all game day events.
Act as game day administrator in absence of Director of Athletics.
Organize and assign all game day staff, serve as crowd control representative at all events.
Coordinate Athletic Facility Usage with appropriate individuals (Director of Athletics).
Assist with marketing of games/events and the athletic department at TAMUT.
Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** :**
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physical education, or related field.
Three (3) years coaching experience at the high school, collegiate or professional level
General knowledge of NAIA and NCAA rules
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

Previous supervisory experience
Knowledge of FERPA, conflict of interest and other athletics compliance requirements
Knowledge of Texas State/TAMUS ethical requirements/standards
