The head coach will direct all facets of a competitive NAIA Cheer and Dance program with a special emphasis on recruitment of students whose educational, athletic, and personal aims are imminently congruent with the University mission. Each coach is responsible but is not limited to practice and game preparation; budgeting; academic support; supervision of assistant and graduate assistant coaches and ensuring the general welfare and the development of the student-athlete.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** :**
Coordinate the implementation of the University’s Cheer and Dance program based on integrity and compliance with all NAIA regulations.
Responsible for game day personnel, visiting teams’ arrival, coordinating locker room usage, pre-event coordination, post-event clean-up, athletic facilities usage.
Assist with guiding the Eagle Athletics Branding efforts.
Identifies new and creative means to attract fans to various events.
Assists with format for home events for PA announcers, sponsors announcements, upcoming activities and activities sponsored by organizations during games and matches.
Athletic Department Liaison for student-life activities, mascots, student-led organizations.
Implements and administers team rules and discipline policies not less restrictive than the general rules and policies of the University’s Athletic Program.
Plans and implements training procedures for individual and team improvement while developing match schedules, practice schedules and travel accommodations as needed.
Supports Registrar and Faculty Athletic Representative in adhering to and maintaining academic eligibility requirements.
Supports the Athletic Trainer in managing athletes’ injuries and in administering the institution’s athletic drug testing policy.
Supports Faculty in accomplishing the academic aims of the institution and ensuring the academic success of student-athletes.
Assist the Athletic Director in activities surrounding community support through fundraisers for the Cheer and Dance program which includes camps to enhance community awareness within the sport.
Maintains athletic facility in a manner to ensure well-being of athletes and viability of athletic competition.
Reinforce the TAMUT culture by demonstrating sportsmanship, integrity, a competitive spirit, and the importance of academics.
Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** :**
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of related experience coaching and directing a cheerleading and/or dance squad.
Knowledge of cheerleading/dance safety precautions.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels, standing throughout the day, the ability to use a loud voice at practices and events and physical involvement in all practices and workouts with players.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physical education, kinesiology, or education,
Master’s Degree
Previous supervisory experience
Knowledge of FERPA, conflict of interest and other athletics compliance requirements
Knowledge of Texas State/TAMUS ethical requirements/standards
Knowledge of NAIA, NCAA rules and regulations
Other Requirements
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
Minimum two (2) years coaching experience at the High School, NAIA, JC or NCAA level.
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and work independently.
Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and face-to-face interactions.
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
