Job Description

The HSSU Part Time Head Cheer Coach is responsible for assisting in several aspects of developing and organizing the Cheerleading program. This position also requires recruiting, assisting with the coordination of practices, team management, skill development, and instructing student athletes in techniques for peak performance. The position also requires some eligibility knowledge and performs other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach & or appropriate administrator. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to conduct cheer practice, develop cheer routines, have a well-rounded knowledge of cheer skills and should be able to instruct and evaluate student-athletes. This is a stipend position, non-benefitted position.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Instructs student athletes in techniques of the sport, rules, regulations, and manages equipment/uniforms
  • Assist with practices, scheduling, strength and conditioning program for student athletes
  • Coaches effectively in practices and competitions
  • Ability to coach, teach, and motivate student-athletes in a collegiate environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Provides supervision of student athletes
  • Influence all student-athletes to graduate with a professional degree
  • Develop the athletic skills of each student-athlete in season and out of season
  • Develops and executes team fundraising initiatives
  • Represents the University in a positive manner at all times
  • May be required to work irregular hours
  • Models and teaches NAIA Live 5; integrity, respect, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship
