DSU is seeking to hire a Head Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Coach, Assistant Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Coach/Faculty. Head Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Coach, Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Coach is responsible for a highly competitive cross country program, assisting with a highly competitive men’s and women’s track & field program and assisting with the sport information department which compete in the Frontier Conference and NAIA.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: knowing and abiding by all University, NAIA and Frontier Conference rules and regulations; coaching, recruiting, monitoring student-athletes academic progress, budgeting and scheduling, organization and implantation of practice and contest plans. This position is expected to teach at least 6 credits per semester and 12 credits during the academic year.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• College cross country and/or track & field coaching experience
• Background in kinesiology and exercise science training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

• Background in operating Hytek/Finish Line lynx system for Track/Cross Country Meets

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

• Master’s degree in related field of one of DSU’s program offerings
• Familiar with face-to-face, distance (both asynchronous and synchronous) and hybrid course instruction modalities
• Be wiling and able to implement current instructional technology and learning tools to accomplish these delivery modality expectations where appropriate
• Be willing to travel to other university’s sites in Dickinson, Bismarck, or Williston, teaching by interactive video, and/or online

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer the Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Program Responsible for administering and overseeing all aspects of the cross country program.

  • Administer effective in-contest coaching and managing technic.
  • Organization and implantation of practice plans and instruction.
  • Athlete development.
  • Contest day operations.
  • Scheduling of contest and practice.
  • Travel supervision.
  • Budget management.
  • Monitoring of student-athletes academic progress
  • Media Relations.
  • Recruitment and Retention of quality student-athletes.

• Assist Administering the Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Programs Assist in the administration of all aspects of the men’s & women’s track & field program.

  • Assist with the planning and instruction of all track meets and practice sessions.
  • Assist with administration and supervision of all home track meets
  • Responsible for the supervision and instruction of the distance runners
  • Responsible for athlete development
  • Recruitment and retention of track and field athletes. 

• Assist in other duties assigned with preference for teaching  courses in the exercise science department of kinesiology.

  • Teach assigned class loads.
  • Make appropriate preparations for the semester including syllabus preparation, preparation of lecture and/or laboratory materials, preparation of tests and assignments as needed/appropriate, revise course materials when needed, and provide measurable objectives for student performance.
  • Act as a professional role model to students.
  • Communicate effectively with students.
  • Arrive at class punctually and use class time effectively.
  • Stay current in field of expertise
  • Be available to and provide assistance to students
  • Perform other teaching duties as assigned or noted by supervisor

 

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

• Salary range of $48,000-50,000/annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience
