Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director, the head coach will provide vision, leadership, and
oversight for all aspects of the golf program, including coaching; coordinating training; supporting
student-athletes; recruiting; and working within NCAA, Conference, and Alverno College
guidelines. The head coach will be called upon to supervise and coordinate the work of any assistant
coaches, as well as play a major role in fundraising activities for the program. The incumbent will
demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes by monitoring
and actively encouraging participants to succeed academically and represent the College with the
utmost integrity. This individual will evaluate talent, contact prospects, and recruit new student-
athletes to Alverno College by working with Admissions. Attend all Conference and Departmental
meetings. Maintain a positive relationship with student-athletes, staff, faculty, volunteers, and fans.
Maintain positive professional relationships with other colleges, professional peers, and organizations
to remain current in trends particular to sport and further develop areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

 Previous coaching and/or playing experience in assigned sport
 Strong communication skills with faculty, staff, students, coaches, officials and the general public
 A commitment to knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations
 Must have demonstrated leadership abilities and an understanding of student development,
including the ability to balance student needs and take on an institutional perspective.

 Demonstrated ability to establish good rapport and effective working relationships with student-

athletes, coaches, staff and alumni

 Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to attend practices and events
 Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets the qualifications of an Alverno driver

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
