Rivier University, located in Nashua, New Hampshire, seeks a dynamic leader to join the Athletics department as our Head Coach of Women’s Ice Hockey. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach will be charged with the administration and oversight of an NCAA Division III hockey program that participates in the MASCAC beginning in 2024. This is a full-time position with the additional responsibilities associated with game management and creating a comprehensive student-athlete experience. The successful candidate should have a proven ability to recruit and develop student-athletes and have a strong commitment to the Division III philosophy and the Rivier mission.
Duties and Responsibilities
Direct all aspect of coaching varsity ice hockey team
Recruit qualified student-athletes in cooperation with Admissions staff
Plan and conduct practice sessions
Coach team at all home and away games
Become familiar with and adhere to all NCAA and Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference rules
Assume primary responsibility for first aid when a trainer is unavailable
Attend Athletic Awards Ceremony and other department functions as assigned
Coordinate all department student work study positions
Game Manager when assigned
Assist the Director of Athletics with NCAA and MASCAC compliance related items
Assist with all-conference business as needed

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, required. Master’s preferred
Previous coaching at the collegiate level required
Willingness to work with Admissions staff to actively recruit qualified student-athletes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Energy and motivation to develop and maintain a quality program
Demonstrated organizational skills
Commitment to women’s sports, NCAA Division III philosophy, MASCAC philosophy
Willingness to contribute as a team member to the athletics staff and to the Rivier University community
Valid Driver’s License
Supplemental Information
Please note travel is required to and from games with occasional overnight travel. Travel is also expected for recruitment purposes. Physical demands of the position include eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, and the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit.
