Job Description:
The part-time position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Women’s Flag Football program including, but not limited to: coaching, recruiting, practice planning and preparation, competition scheduling, fundraising, budgetary management, strength and conditioning, academic monitoring, and other duties as assigned. The Women’s Flag Football Head Coach in Year 1 will be primarily responsible for the building of the program in all facets including the recruitment of twenty-one student athletes while paving the way for a successful path for success. In addition to all the requirements detailed in the essential duties and responsibilities section, is recognized as pivotal to, and responsible for, the record of the program as it relates to competitive scheduling, University/community relations and the enhancement and academic achievement of the student-athletes. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Athletics & Recreation.
Supervisory/Duties Responsibilities:
Recruiting
Oversee and implement all aspects of the recruiting process
Identify and evaluate prospective student athletes
Engage in communication with the prospects, parents, coaches, and other advisors through extensive travel, written and verbal correspondence
Attract potential student-athletes to Manhattanville University
Communicate with Compliance Officer to ensure that all NCAA policies are followed
Coaching
Identifying the roster makeup
Oversee and direct all aspects of coaching during practice and games
Enhance the development of the student-athletes flag football skills through team practice and individual instruction
Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed by all student-athletes
Work with athletics trainers and physicians to implement team wellness and conditioning programs
Understand current and changing NCAA, Skyline Conference, and Manhattanville Compliance Policy and Procedures as they relate to the flag football program
Maintain consistent communication with Manhattanville’s compliance staff and athletic administrators
Fully comply with the rules, regulations, and policies of the NCAA, of the Skyline Conference, and of the University and its Athletic Department and take every reasonable precaution to ensure that all members of the flag football coaching staff comply fully with such rules, regulations, and policies
Monitor academic progress of student athletes
Coordinate the program's fundraising activities
Responsible for the scheduling of all contests
Performs other additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Travel required for competitions and recruiting
Perform flag football-related physical tasks
Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and best practices
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and alumni
Ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team environment
Ability to effectively communicate with student-athletes, coaches, and the University’s administration
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree required
Experience:
Current knowledge of rules and policies of the NCAA Division III
Intercollegiate coaching and playing experience
Recruiting at a collegiate level
CPR/AED Certified
Valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move sport related equipment such as ball carts and cones.
Ability to physically perform coaching tasks such as demonstrating a drill to players
Ability to perform field maintenance and setup for practice and games
Perform game-day supervision duties (as assigned) of other sporting events which could result in lifting items more than 50 pounds
Salary:
This is a part-time salaried role with an annualized range of $15,000.00-20,000.00.
Hours Expectation:
Part-time, 29 hours or less per week
