JOB SUMMARY: 

The Head Cross Country/Assistant Track Coach will be responsible for assisting all phases of managing a successful cross country/track program including, but not limited to, instructing athletes on fundamentals, practice and contest preparation; spiritual, academic and athletic support for students; recruiting assistance, including travel; and practice and contest analysis.  

QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS :

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational degree preferred.
• A working knowledge of the guidelines and policies governing recruiting the sport of Cross Country / Track & Field. 
• Possess the qualities that reflect the standards of conduct and lifestyle of the Assemblies of God fellowship.
• Experience recruiting highly-talented intercollegiate student-athletes.
• Experience coaching at the collegiate level preferred
• Ability to coach, teach, and motivate student-athletes in a Christian-collegiate environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Coordinates the organization of the cross-country program.

• Assists in coordinating the organization of the track and field program.

• Programs / plans the development of distance runners.

• Assists in developing and organizing practice programs, workouts and meets.

• Assists with motivating students and instructing student athletes with preparation in individual event strategies and techniques.

• Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.

• Models a Christ-like/sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials and spectators.

• Embraces the five core values of the NAIA – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.  

• Additionally, the Assistant Track Coach may be assigned additional duties by the Head Track Coach and the Evangel University Athletic Department.
