Shippensburg University is currently seeking applications for the position of Head Football Coach.
This is a full-time, 12-month, non-teaching position and plays a key leadership role in supporting the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the administration of all aspects of the a competitive NCAA Division II football program.
• Ensure adherence to all rules and regulations established by Shippensburg University, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), and the NCAA.
• Advise student-athletes and staff on applicable rules and regulations to ensure program compliance.
• Plan, organize, and conduct team practices and competitions.
• Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competitions.
• Develop and manage intercollegiate competition schedules.
• Oversee recruitment of quality student-athletes and determine athletically related scholarship allocation
• Monitor student-athlete academic performance and implement strategies to support retention and graduation.
• Communicate with student-athletes regarding University, PSAC, and NCAA requirements related to eligibility and educational progress.
• Enforce team, department, and university rules and policies as needed.
• Manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
• Oversee team travel arrangements and related logistics.
• Participate in fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement efforts to promote the program.
• Support marketing and communications staff in publicity and promotional activities.
• Maintain current certifications in First Aid, Safety, and CPR, and complete all required NCAA education modules annually.
• Participate in professional organizations, PSAC, and NCAA committees.
• Instruct student-athletes and assistant coaches in the principles, strategies, and rules of the sport.
• Collaborate with athletic trainers to ensure student-athlete health and safety.
• Work with strength and conditioning staff to develop in-season and off-season training programs.
• Scout and evaluate prospective student-athletes
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches and program staff.
• Recruit and manage volunteer coaches to support the program.
• Submit monthly work schedules and maintain accurate staff calendars.
• Attend athletics department staff meetings and contribute to departmental initiatives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

| | Minimum Qualifications |
Qualified candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s Degree and five years of collegiate coaching experience as well as demonstrated skills in developing and motivating student athletes for athletic, academic and personal success.
• Must possess effective communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.
• Successful performance in an on-campus interview is required.
