The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation is an integral part of the University's overall mission to provide its students with a comprehensive educational experience, one that stresses the importance of academic, personal, emotional, social and physical development. Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Football Coach is a 12-month full-time position responsible for all phases of leading a competitive Division III football program.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Develops, organizes and administers a competitive Division III intercollegiate football program. - Recruits student-athletes within guidelines of William Paterson University and the NCAA. - Works collaboratively with Office of Admissions. - Monitors academic progress of student-athletes, and develops and implements strategy for retention. - Executes practice organization and develops game strategy. - Cultivates student-athletes' skill and strategy related to the sport. - Coordinates game schedule and travel arrangements. - Assists with development of team budget and abide by same. - Develops working relationship with athletic administration and support staff in the overall management of the football program. - Recommends the hiring of assistant coaches and supervises same. - Attends meetings, open house, and workshops as required. - Adheres to all university, NCAA and NJAC policies and procedures and educate student-athletes about the same. - Actively cultivates and communicates with alumni. - Participates in fundraising and community service activities. - Supervises home games as described in site supervision manual for winter/spring athletic contests. - Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - the ideal candidate must have the following: - Bachelor's degree. - Three (3) or more years coaching experience at the collegiate or high school levels. - Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and coach student-athletes. - Certification in CPR/AED. - Proficient with FrontRush, SLATE, HUDL, Microsoft office, and social media platforms.
Additional, preferred qualifications: - Master's degree - Collegiate level football coaching experience - Head coaching experience - Recruitment of qualified student-athletes at the collegiate level - Knowledge of NCAA Division III bylaws, rules and regulations
Personal attributes and traits: - Demonstrated capacity to objectively listen, understand, and accurately interpret what someone else is saying. - Capable of effectively navigating the complexities of competing wants and needs in a complex and diverse work environment. - Ability to understand the essential factors of a situation and effectively bring together the necessary resources to address issues, solve problems, and advance institutional mission. - Able to readily modify, respond to and integrate change with minimal personal resistance. - Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and internal strength when coping with external and internal pressures.
Starting Salary - AFT Range 24 - $73,899.90 - $84,980.24
