Responsibilities:
· Serve as counselor, educator and role model in order to foster the physical, intellectual, and social development of student athletes.
· Actively engage in campus-wide activities and within the Student Affairs organization.
· Collaborate with and support other coaches and their teams, and with colleagues across the University community.
· Maximize the physical talent of the Track and Field teams through quality coaching/teaching and the promotion of teamwork.
· Follows all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA division III, the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and Carroll University policies and procedures.
· Display professional decorum and serve as a positive ambassador of Carroll University at all times.
· Plan, organize, and administer all in-season and off-season practice sessions for Track and Field.
· Recruit student athletes and work with the Office of Admission to maximize enrollment.
· Retain student athletes at Carroll University and within the Track and Field programs.
· Hire, manage and evaluate assistant coaches.
· Maintain, manage and update equipment inventories for the Track and Field programs.
· Assist with the management and maintenance of the competition and practice facilities used by the Track and Field teams.
· Develop a practice and competition schedule.
· Maintain a positive presence both on-campus and within the local community.
· Teach the skills and strategies necessary to improve student skills and increase their understanding of the sports of Track and Field.
· Performing other duties as assigned.
Strength and Conditioning Responsibilities
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree required (Masters preferred)
· At least three years of progressive experience in coaching Track & Field (collegiate level preferred)
· Experience in athletic programs, and facilities and events coordination and management
Interpersonal Skills:
· Must possess the ability to enthusiastically and positively promote the University and its intercollegiate program.
· Be able to function effectively with the coaching staff and the entire campus community as a collaborative team player.
· Must possess sensitivity to the needs of students and an understanding of their overall educational goals as well of as the academic mission of the University.
· Must have the ability to serve as a positive role model to student athletes and to demonstrate productive, professional behavior at all times.
Human Relations Skills:
· Strong interactive communication skills
· Strong organizational skills
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Other:
· Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurance under the University’s plan
