ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and direct the men’s basketball program by ensuring the athletes have the knowledge, skill and abilities in order to perform to the best of their ability
Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and Conference regulations for the men’s basketball team
Manage and is actively involved in all aspects of the team including strength and conditioning, practicing, and competing
Monitor class schedules, grades and student-athlete academic progress and works with students in satisfactory academic progress
Responsible for basketball student-athlete retention by working closely with the director of student success and retention and ensuring academic and personal growth by implementing action plans
Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes
Directs and supervises the assistant basketball coach ensuring the pursuit of the student development experiences
Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.

Attend monthly athletic staff meetings
QUALIFICATIONS:
Organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs.
Principles and practices of basketball.
Ability to use computers for recording student information and conducting research.
Methods and techniques of program development and evaluation.
Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
Ability to market and to promote various services.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Ability to evaluate, advise and counsel students on sport-related matters (sports nutrition, care, rehabilitation).
Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
Ability to effectively develop, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies designed to provide effective student services.
Ability to interpret and apply university policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance; insurable for driving per University policy.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A Master’s degree is preferred; however, a bachelor’s degree will be considered if the candidate has appropriate specialization and eight years of coaching experience at the high school level or above.
Experience working with student athletes in a university setting.
Experience with NCAA regulations.
