Job Description:
Head Coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to all aspects of coaching, budget managing, alumni relations, recruitment, etc.
Assistant Director of Athletics responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing assistance to the director of athletics in the areas of planning, organizing, and directing the universities' intercollegiate athletic programs and policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Head Coach Men's Basketball
Ensure compliance with NCAA, Atlantic East Conference and university policies and procedures
Meet recruiting goals as established by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Achieve and maintain certification for CPR/AED and First Aid
Monitor team fundraising account
Attend department staff meetings and university functions
Represent university at conference meetings
Develop and maintain alumni relations for the promotion of the program
Represent the University and its athletics program, with honesty, integrity and sportsmanship at all times, to various institutional programs and students, parents and families, the general public, alumni and external agencies.
Work with various departments and personnel at the university to aid in the development of a positive student-athlete experience.
Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to enhance players' skills, knowledge, and performance in basketball.
Plan and conduct regular practices, focusing on individual and team development, strategy implementation, and game preparation
Provide instruction and guidance to players on proper techniques, rules, and strategies specific to men's basketball.
Teach and set expectations of appropriate team conduct during competition, travel, practice and University events, and at any other times when the team is representing the University.
Evaluate players' abilities and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and performance.
Develop game plans and strategies to maximize the team's chances of success during competitions
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assistant Director of Athletics
Provide oversight, guidance, and direction to all sports programs
Provide assistance to the Director of Athletic and Recreation in all decisions regarding policy, vision for the future and day-to-day operations.
Serve as the primary contact for all department transportation needs
Coordinate all department team bus and van transportation (practices and games) by communicating effectively with all appropriate outside vendors, all head coaches and the Director of Athletics and Recreation
Serve as the primary contact to officiating assignors ensuring each has the most updated information regarding home contests and ensuring payment of game officials in a timely manner.
Participate in special projects and additional duties at work with various departments and personnel at the college to aid in the development of a positive student-athlete experience.
Review, create and approve competitive schedules for all 21 varsity teams.
Liaison between HR and Athletics to help with the hiring of all part time coaches regarding required paperwork, onboarding and other needs of the coaches.
Represent the department at various events, may serve on committees to enhance objectives.
Supervise, train and evaluate assigned coaches, staff and/or interns.
Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences.
Assist the Director of Athletics and Recreation in communications with the IU business office with regard to credit card usage, purchase orders, deposits and check requests.
Performs responsibilities as Game Manager as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
Appropriate experience that would provide the noted knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must possess effective coaching skills and techniques to instruct athletes
Must possess ability to teach good sportsmanship and teamwork
Possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
Complete all coaching requirements regarding sports safety including maintaining current certification in CPR, First Aid & AED and recertify as needed on an annual basis
Must have the ability to develop positive relationships with athletes, co-workers, University faculty/administration and parents
