The Head Coach of the University of Nebraska Rowing club is a new role that will be paramount in creating a sustainable foundation for the competitive rowing club.
The Head Coach will:
Direct, oversee, and administer a competitive, collegiate rowing program and be responsible for all aspects of coaching. This position will supervise assistant coaches and other identified staff.
Provide leadership growth opportunities for student athletes. Specifically, the Head Coach will be responsible for supervising and developing the student member officers in concert with UNL Recognized Student Organization philosophy.
Organize and oversee recruiting efforts to grow a competitive team of men and women student-athletes to build and sustain the Rowing Club.
Orient and mentor potential rowing candidates to join the Crew.
Maintain a competitive race schedule within the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA), regional programs, and within the Big 10 conference as appropriate.
Define and coordinate mentoring opportunities as appropriate for a positive program and student development with the Friends of Nebraska Rowing alumni and families of student athletes.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Four years of Rowing or Coxing
One year of collegiate rowing coaching experience
Experience driving a rowing shell trailer.
US Rowing Coaching Education Certification Level 2
State of Nebraska Boating License or the ability to acquire within 30 days of employment
Adult First Aid and CPRAED Certification or the ability to attain within 30 days of employment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information and instructions effectively.
Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
Working knowledge of rowing fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations.
Extensive knowledge of individual and team coaching with the ability to teach these skills.
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
State of Nebraska Boating License or the ability to acquire within 30 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications
Three years of collegiate rowing coaching in a paid position
