The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for all facets of conducting a successful Baseball program at the

NCAA

Division 1 level.

Duties include; on the field coaching during practice and competition; recruiting of quality student-athletes; game preparation; administration of operating budget; supervision of assistants; fundraising; promotional and public relations activities; speaking engagements and media interviews; knowledge of and compliance with all

NCAA

, conference, and university rules and regulations; direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the Mississippi Valley State University baseball team; provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes at Mississippi Valley State University; study, evaluate and implement innovations in baseball strategy and equipment; and demonstrate professional integrity.

Attend departmental staff meetings as established. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director as deemed necessary to aid in efficient operations of the department.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or a combination of experience that equates to expertise.

Successful

NCAA

softball coaching experience as a head coach or assistant coach with winning programs.

Ability to recruit in high schools and junior colleges, primarily in Mississippi and the surrounding states. Demonstrate administrative and public relations abilities.

Concern for academic and athletic preparation of student-athletes. Ability to establish good rapport and working relationships with student-athletes, coaching staff, administration, university personnel, and the general public. Demonstrate knowledge of the ability to comply with

NCAA

, conference and university rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree. Competitive experience as intercollegiate softball player. Successful head or assistant coaching experience at

NCAA

Division 1 or

NAIA

DI level.
