Responsibilities:
• Serve as counselor, educator and role model in order to foster the physical, intellectual, and social development of student athletes.
• Actively engage in campus-wide activities and in the Student Affairs organization.
• Collaborate with and support other coaches and their teams, and with colleagues across the University community.
• Maximize the physical talent of the softball team through quality coaching/teaching and the promotion of teamwork.
• Follows all rules and guidelines set forth by the NCAA division III, Midwest Conference, and Carroll University policies and procedures.
• Display professional decorum and serve as a positive ambassador of Carroll University at all times.
• Plan, organize and administer all in-season practice sessions for softball.
• Recruit student athletes and work with the Office of Admission to maximize enrollment.
• Retain student athletes at Carroll University and within the soccer program.
• Hire, manage and evaluate assistant coaches.
• Maintain, manage and update equipment inventories for soccer.
• Assist with the management and maintenance of all game and practice facilities used by the soccer team.
• Develop a practice and competition schedule.
• Maintain a positive presence both on-campus and within the local community.
• Teach the skills and strategies necessary to improve student skills and increase their understanding of the sport of soccer.
Secondary Assignment: Ganfield Building Coordinator
• Perform small maintenance jobs as needed
• Collaborate with custodial manager for cleanliness of Ganfield
• Serve as Emergency Building Coordinator for Ganfield Gymnasium
• Input work orders through “School Dude” link
• Perform daily walkthroughs of Ganfield Gymnasium
Strength and Conditioning Responsibilities:
• Implementation of standards and safety guidelines for Professional Strength and Conditioning Practice(s).
• Maintain compliance with current NCAA strength and conditioning regulations.
• Assist with facility and equipment set up, inspection, and maintenance.
• Implementation of emergency planning and response plan when needed in the weight room.
• Works collaboratively with Human Performance coaches.
• Serves as weight room monitor when supervising the weight room
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required: Master's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated progressive experience in collegiate or high school coaching required.
• Coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
• Current valid Strength and Conditioning certification.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification
Interpersonal Skills:
• Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
• The ability to enthusiastically and positively promote the University and its intercollegiate programs is essential.
• Ability to function effectively with the coaching staff and the entire campus community as a collaborative team player.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Sensitivity to the needs of students and an understanding of their overall educational goals as well of as the academic mission of the University.
• Ability to recruit quality student athletes.
• Ability to conduct self in a productive, professional manner, and serve as a positive role model to student athletes at all times.
• Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
Computer Skills:
• Computer skills (Excel spreadsheets)
• Understanding of budgeting and budget management processes
Compliance:
