Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all aspects of the program, including recruiting, coaching, compliance, and program administration. The coach will focus on fostering a disciplined, and academically successful team while supporting the mission and values of Blackburn College.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Player Development
Design and implement effective practice plans and training sessions
Develop student-athletes physically, mentally, and technically to compete at a high level.
Provide individual and team instruction to enhance performance and skills.
Create a culture built on growth, team work and grit.
Recruiting & Retention
Identify and recruit talented student-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of Blackburn College.
Ensure roster size aligns with program goals and budget.
Monitor academic progress and provide support to ensure student-athlete success.
Program Administration & Compliance
Develop and implement a strategic plan for the Spirit Program.
Oversee program budget, including travel, equipment, and recruiting expenses.
Organize scheduling of practices and team events in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Facilities and the athletic training staff.
Staff Leadership & Development
Promote a positive coaching environment with clear communication and expectations.
Serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes.
Community Engagement & Fundraising
Organize and participate in fundraising initiatives to support the program.
Engage with alumni, donors, and the local community to grow support for the team.
Assist with camps, clinics, and outreach programs.
Promote the program through social media and campus events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Previous coaching experience (head or assistant) preferred.
Proven ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel for recruiting and competitions.
