POSITION SUMMARY

The head strength and conditioning coach and director of the Welch Fitness Center is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating all strength and conditioning plans for DePauw Athletics while overseeing the Welch Fitness Center.

The head strength and conditioning coach is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all sports, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. The strength and conditioning coach will create training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervise training sessions, evaluate athletes, and document all training sessions. The head strength and conditioning coach meets regularly with sport coaches to determine how strength and conditioning practices can improve the student-athlete experience.

The director of the Welch Fitness Center is responsible for maintaining the Welch Fitness Center, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility. This individual will be responsible for identifying, hiring and training student workers, scheduling fitness classes, determining hours of operation for the Welch Fitness Center, completing routine facility maintenance, overseeing community memberships and creating and implementing an annual budget.

• Hire, supervise and process timecards for student workers in the Welch Fitness Center.
• Manage the Welch Fitness Center budgets.
• Schedule routine Welch Fitness Center facility maintenance.
• Oversee community membership.
• Schedule fitness classes, and solicit instructors.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
