TITLE:   Head Women’s Basketball Coach

DEPARTMENT: Athletics

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics

JOB SUMMARY :  

The Head Women’s Basketball Coach is directly responsible to Director of Intercollegiate Athletics who answers to the University President. He or she will be responsible to recruit and hire assistant coaches in consultation with the Athletic Director. Fostering positive relationships with support personnel (trainer, athletic director, office staff, sports information director and other coaches) and players is also very important.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

• Master’s degree preferred (minimum 4-year college degree required)
• Successful coaching experience
• Commitment to a philosophy of coaching at a Christian University by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and exhibiting a lifestyle consistent with that commitment
• Commitment to all players earning a degree
• Commitment to spiritual growth of all players
• Ability and willingness to communicate well in public

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : 

• Recruit student/athletes with intelligence, integrity, Christian faith, and character.
• Responsible for developing a highly competitive NAIA program consistent with institutional goals and objectives defined in the University Mission Statement.
• Responsible for conforming to institutional, conference and NAIA regulations (see Conference Constitution and Bylaws, NAIA Manual).
• Encourage participation in ministry opportunities for athletes.
• Use sport to develop a deeper commitment to spiritual and academic values.
• Maintain a balanced budget for women’s basketball program.
• Additionally, the Head Women's Basketball Coach may be assigned additional duties by the Evangel University Athletic Department.
