POSITION SUMMARY
Provide leadership, supervision and coaching to the women’s lacrosse program. Responsibilities include planning and organizing all aspects of women’s lacrosse operations including but not limited to recruiting, scheduling, training and conditioning, practice and game strategies, budgeting, fundraising, participation in marketing and promotions programs and community outreach, and supervision of assistant coaches. This position requires a strong commitment to the athlete’s academic success, adherence to the athletic, university, and NAIA rules and regulations, and support for the philosophy, goals and mission of the university and its athletic program.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and coach women’s lacrosse at the NAIA level. Direct team training and practices, teaching skills and strategies for use in competition.
Recruit appropriate students for women’s lacrosse team that best fit the University as a whole; scout opponents when appropriate.
Coordinate athletic scholarship awards with the Director of Athletics, Compliance Coordinator, and Office of Financial Aid.
Maintain appropriate team conduct and player discipline throughout the academic year in line with the University, Athletics Department, the NAIA and Champion of Character mission statements.
Schedule all competitions/contests with other colleges and universities according to NAIA rules and regulations.
Work with Director of Athletics to schedule practices within the department.
Make all lodging and transportation arrangements for team travel.
Order and maintain equipment and supplies for thewo men’s lacrosse team.
Schedule officials for all home games/contests; responsible for payment(s) by completing appropriate paperwork in a timely manner.
Develop new fundraising options to support the women’s lacrosse program as well as all athletic programs.
Work with Sports Information Office to maintain accurate and up to date team and individual statistics, as well as human-interest stories for the media.
Attend scheduled staff meetings and mandatory compliance sessions.
Comply with departmental and university safety rules and regulations.
Serve as a Game Manager for assigned home games other than your sport.
Serve on University committees as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Previous women’s lacrosse college coaching preferred with knowledge of lacrosse intercollegiate rules and regulations and the ability to supervise players.
Successful head coaching experience at high school (at least 6 years) and/or collegiate level (at least 3 years).
Success working with diverse student populations. Position requires travel and irregular work hours demanding a willingness to work a flexible schedule and commit to evenings/weekends/holidays for games.
Responsible for over $1,000 cash.
Experience with college athletic recruiting with the use of financial aid and admissions policies. Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of position skills, teaching methods, strategy and motivational methods.
Ability to teach technical aspects of sport.
Ability to communicate effectively and exercise critical human relation skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the university community.
Successful experience in relating to high school coaches as it pertains to recruitment.
Valid Florida driver’s license required to drive students using university and/or leased vans. Computer skills.
First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
Occasional exposure to health and accident hazards or risks.
Tasks may occasionally involve potential contact with bloodborne pathogens.
Physical demands will require incumbent to be in good physical shape in terms of practices and games.
Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry equipment and/or materials weighing up to 50 lbs. for short distances.
