SUMMARY/SCOPE: Tennis Graduate Student Worker
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide assistance with practice planning including supervision of athletes.
Support departmental processes related to student recruitment including contacting prospective students, peer advising/mentoring, conducting campus tours and orientation activities, and delivery of presentations.
Carry out the Coach Williford’s program philosophy.
Balance team and individual responsibilities.
Provide assistance with facilitating practices.
Possess listening and comprehension skills.
Express verbal and written ideas and thoughts clearly and effectively.
Assist the head coach in uploading, watching and breaking down film and discovering improvements individual athletes can make as well as the team as a whole.
Acting as a liaison between head coaches and players, and establishing effective communication between them.
Assist the head coach in devising game plans, strategies and tactics.
Ensure players understand game plans, strategies and tactics and answer any questions they may have.
Set up equipment required to conduct practice sessions.
Complete other assigned administrative duties in a timely manner.
Assist head coach in developing game schedules for each season.
Once season schedule is final, assist head coach in configuring which days athletes will most likely be missing class so they can plan accordingly.
Assist head coach in monitoring athletes’ grades ensuring they remain eligible throughout the school year.
Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public.
Seek opportunities to increase job skills and knowledge.
Exhibit compassion and kindness to all campus community in actions and words.
Be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, make judgements, and solve problems.
Exhibit trustworthiness and honesty in work and interactions with coaching staff, campus employees, and student athletes.
Always work to improve character skills such as, hard work, patience, courage, etc. and integrate a Christian perspective into their work, while encouraging student athletes to do the same.
