Job Description

Neumann University (NU) seeks applicants to apply for its Director of Athletics & Recreation position. The Director of Athletics & Recreation is responsible for providing leadership and management for Neumann’s NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic program consisting of 23 sports, 7 club sports, and a robust intramural program. Neumann is a member of the Atlantic East Conference and the Middle Atlantic East Conference for Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey teams.

The Director of Athletics & Recreation serves on the Provost Council where athletics, academics and student affairs are integrated together and lead while embracing Neumann’s mission and vision as well as our RISES values of Reverence, Integrity, Stewardship, Excellence and Service.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with athletic enrollment/retention experience and one who embraces the Franciscan values, fosters diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The Director of Athletics and Recreation needs to lead and grow the department in the ever-changing landscape of division III competitive collegiate sports, promoting integrity and sportsmanship through academic and athletic excellence and increasing Neumann’s fan base.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of six years of experience of successful senior-level leadership in athletics administration at the NCAA Division III level including personnel management, student athlete recruitment and retention, budget management, compliance, operations, and policy development.
  • Personal commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and proficient with Division III rules and regulations.
  • Experience as a collegiate varsity coach and collegiate student athlete strongly preferred.
  • Degree in sports management/administration or related field, advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrates integrity, vision, and passion for collegiate athletics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, organizational and computer skills
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging along with a high degree of cultural competence and respect for a wide range of identities and experiences.
  • Commitment to the Catholic Franciscan values and mission of Neumann University.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
