Brown University Athletics & Recreation seeks a collaborative, organized, and creative communications professional to manage the day-to-day operations of Athletics Communications. The Athletics Communications Manager oversees the execution of communications efforts that promote Brown's 38 varsity athletics programs and recreation initiatives while ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging across digital and traditional media platforms.

Working closely with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, and campus partners, the Athletics Communications Manager supports storytelling, media relations, website and social media management, and departmental communications that enhance the visibility and reputation of Brown Athletics & Recreation.

• Demonstrates exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and brand consistency.
• Effectively manages websites, content management systems, and social media platforms to ensure timely, engaging, and accurate digital communications.
• Plans, prioritizes, and manages multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Produces high-quality work through careful attention to detail, strong editorial judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Applies knowledge of NCAA Division I athletics, Ivy League Conference, higher education, and the unique communications needs of intercollegiate athletics programs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of athletics communications, including media relations, statistical reporting, game operations, and event communications.
• Utilizes industry-standard communications tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, photography, video, and graphic design resources to support storytelling and brand engagement.
• Uses social media analytics, website metrics, and other digital performance data to evaluate communications effectiveness and inform future content strategies.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties.

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
