Manager of Events and Game Operations

McKendree University, Lebanon, Illinois, is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as a full-time Manager of Events and Game Operations. McKendree University is a member of the NCAA and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, implementing, and coordinating events for the Athletics Department.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages and executes events including logistics requiring coordination with internal and external partners in an effective and efficient manner and acting as the primary point of contact. Events include home athletic contests (regular and post-season) and events for external parties and campus partners.
• Oversee Game Management Graduate Assistants, work study students, and field experience interns.
• Responsibilities include staffing events; developing and maintaining procedure manuals; developing and maintaining hosting protocols; coordinating and organizing meetings between department staff (i.e. coaches, marketing, and promotions) and administration.
• Interface with game day officials, teams, coaches, administrators, GLVC & NCAA, representatives, administrators, and other affiliated groups with the University.
• Selling onsite/online tickets, distributing both season/single-game tickets, running sales reports and mailing/emailing season ticket renewals and processing payments.
• Develop game scripts and timelines for athletic games.
• Provide detailed record keeping related to staff hours worked and approve student time sheets following campus deadlines.
• Administration of the pass lists in accordance with NCAA regulations.
• Provides a positive experience for all participants and spectators.

• Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises event staff.
• Assists with facilities operations, outside of regular event responsibilities, including scheduling, cleaning, maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned.
  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 3 years of experience in communications, employee engagement, marketing, event planning or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to implement.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to build solid relationships and communicate with stakeholders, volunteers, vendors, colleagues, and university partners.
• Ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
• Effective creativity and critical-thinking skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and effective proofreading skills to assist in writing and editing content for engagement initiatives.
• Knowledge of Excel, project tracking tools, such as Microsoft Planner, Wordpress and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Enthusiasm for building employee engagement.

WORK HOURS/CONDITIONS:

• Ability to travel to various locations on and around campus.
• Occasional moderate to heavy lifting and pushing up to and including 50 pounds, but typically 25 pounds or less.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Travel to various buildings on campus.

FLSA Category: Exempt

Salary Range: $35,568.00 - $35,568.00 / Annually

Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions and department budget.
