Illinois Wesleyan University is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and skilled individual to serve as the Head Dance Coach for our collegiate spirit program. This part-time position is responsible for leading the dance team through the academic year, from August through March with limited responsibilities till May, with a focus on high-energy performances at home football and basketball games, team development, and positive campus spirit representation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, instruct, and supervise the dance team during practices, performances, and game day responsibilities
Choreograph and prepare halftime routines and sideline dances for home football (Saturdays) and select weekday basketball games
Lead 2–3 practices per week (approximately 2 hours each)
Foster a team culture built on discipline, inclusivity, performance excellence, and school spirit
Collaborate with the spirit program leadership, athletic department, and game day operations staff
Ensure safety and appropriate skill progression for all team members
Represent the college in a professional and spirited manner at all appearances and events
Qualifications:
Previous dance experience at the collegiate or professional level (coaching or performing) preferred

Qualifications:

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to commit to evenings and weekends during the academic year
CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain prior to season start
Time Commitment:
Season runs August through March with limited responsibilities till May
2–3 practices per week (evenings)
Attendance at all home football games (Saturdays) and select weekday home basketball games
