Job Summary
Indiana University (IU) Kokomo seeks qualified candidates for the position of Head Women's Tennis Coach. The head coach is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the women's tennis program. IU Kokomo is a member of the River States Conference (RSC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), offering athletic opportunities in 14 sports.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Ensures full compliance with university, conference, and NAIA rules and policies, including athlete eligibility and recruiting procedures.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the academic and athletic standards of the university.
- Develops and implements training plans to enhance athletic performance, leadership, and personal growth

Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Ensures full compliance with university, conference, and NAIA rules and policies, including athlete eligibility and recruiting procedures.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the academic and athletic standards of the university.
- Develops and implements training plans to enhance athletic performance, leadership, and personal growth
- Plans and executes the scheduling of all contests and practices in compliance with RSC and NAIA regulations.
- Coordinates team travel and lodging for away contests.
- Monitors the academic progress of student-athletes.
- Promotes and coordinates student-athlete participation in service activities and the NAIA Champions of Character program.
- Organizes and participates in fundraising activities for the program and in coordination with the Athletic Department.
- Manages inventory and maintenance of tennis equipment, apparel, and uniforms.
- Supervises assistant coaches, graduate assistants, interns, and/or student workers.
- Collaborates with the Sports Information Director to manage the program's marketing efforts, including the tennis web page and social media accounts.
- Performs other administrative duties, including operating the tennis program within established budgetary guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years of demonstrated experience teaching the techniques, rules, and strategies of tennis
- Extensive playing experience may be considered in place of coaching experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University
SKILLS
Required
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
- Effective communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to work weekends and evenings.
Additional Information
This is a part-time position that fluctuates hours based on the needs of the program. Review of applications will begin immediately.
