Job Description:

Job Summary

The Assistant & Goalkeeper Coach for Women's Soccer is responsible for assisting in planning and administering all goalkeeper instruction with the oversight of the head coach. He/she will also assist with other aspects of the Women's Soccer Program as assigned. Under the direction of the Head Women's Soccer Coach, the Assistant & Goalkeeper Women's Soccer Coach should model and maintain an exemplary student-athlete concept and the personal development of a student athlete who's on and off the court/field behavior reflects favorably upon the Our Lady of the Lake community in general and the athletics program in particular.

 

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for organizing and conducting goalkeeper training daily.
2. Responsible for providing some coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach in all areas of the Women's Soccer program.
3. Assists with scouting and recruitment of quality student-athletes. 
4. Participates in public relations activities and fundraising. 
5. Ensures the highest professional standards and behavior with regard to adherence to NAIA rules and regulations.
6. Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary, personal matters while adhering to FERPA guidelines.
7. Participates in annual continuing education programs regarding NAIA rules.
8. Coordinates and assist administration with home and visiting team's game day activities (schedule practices, setup and breakdown of equipment, personnel, field set up, etc.).
9. Assists in special events and tournaments, championships, fundraisers, and/or clinics to include, but not limited to, major fundraisers, camps, and/or clinics.
10. Subscribes and adheres to the NAIA Coaches Code of Conduct. 
11. Adhere and promotes the NAIA Champions of Character student development.
12. Attend all scheduled meetings.
13. Athletic Department game day administration as assigned.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Serves as official or committee member as may be requested by those organizations with which OLLU is affiliated.
2. Participates in Student Affairs Division programs and activities.
3. Serves as liaison for the university community of faculty, staff, students and administrators.
4. Adhere to university policies, state and federal laws concerning Title IX, HIPPA, and FERPA policies.
5. Contribute and support the university vibrancy initiative.
6. Assist and maintain inventory at the beginning and end of the academic year.
7. Assist with all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Thorough knowledge of fundamentals, technical aspects, and strategy for assigned sport.
2. Effective oral and written communication skills.
3. Ability to learn, apply and adhere to NAIA rules and regulations.
4. Ability to interact well with officials, coaches, parents, media, and the public.
5. Ability to work with students of all faiths and mentor student-athletes.
6. Demonstrated leadership skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with other departments on campus.
8. Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
9. Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours.

 

Education and Experience:   

1. Bachelor's Degree preferred.  
2. A minimum of three years of coaching experience, preferably in a college or university setting, with at least one year of experience coaching the assigned sport is preferred.
