The Play-by Play Announcer for LVC Softball provides live commentary during all home LVC softball games, accurately describing the action on the field and providing insightful analysis. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the sport of softball rules, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create an engaging and exciting atmosphere for viewers (there is also potential to cover additional sports, based upon interest and experience). Responsibilities include providing live play-by-play commentary during games while accurately describing action on the field, working with athletic communications staff to prepare for broadcasts, including researching teams and players, providing insightful analysis and context to enhance the viewers’ understanding and enjoyment of the game, and maintaining a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm throughout broadcasts. Preferred qualifications include experience in sports broadcasting or announcing (preferably as a play-by play announcer), deep knowledge of the sport of softball, including rules, and strategies, familiarity of players, excellent communication skills, the ability to describe fast-paced action clearly and accurately, the ability to work flexible hours including weekday afternoons and weekends, and strong research and preparation skills. Most home softball games are scheduled as double headers at $50 per game for the play-by play announcer.
