Position Summary

The producer of broadcast services is responsible for leading the video production strategy and execution for Rice Athletics. This position provides oversight for digital broadcasts of live sporting events for home game production for volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, football, and baseball as well as press conferences. This position also provides training, supervision, and support for part time staff during live productions and will work with other event staff to ensure appropriate scripts, graphics, and other items related to game day atmosphere are appropriately executed.

On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at [insert location and schedule]. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1 year related experience
• Knowledge of production techniques including videography, compression, and file delivery
• Knowledge of camera, lighting, sound, and editing
• Understanding of online video environment and online distribution
• Ability to adapt equipment setup and provide alternative setup or workarounds if necessary
• Interpersonal skills, judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad audience
• Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a collaborative team environment
• Time management skills
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as event schedule requires

Essential Functions

• Overseeing digital broadcasts for the ESPN family of networks including live sporting events (soccer, volleyball, football, men's and women's basketball and baseball), as well as press conferences.
• Directing, supervising and evaluating part-time staff during live productions.
• Training staff on various production equipment including: Ross Carbonite switcher, Ross XPression graphics system, Evertz Dreamcatcher replay system, Click Effects,Cross Fire, Evertz routing system, RTS intercom system and Panasonic cameras.
• Collaborating with Broadcast Engineers on the maintenance of production facilities and equipment.
• Overseeing the staff and assist with production of the video board presentations in all venues.
• Work directly with marketing staff for appropriate scripts and graphics needed for in house promotions.
• Attending all operation meetings on behalf of Broadcast Operations and being the main point of contact for Operations staff on game-day.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
