What We Are Looking For

This part-time position provides academic and administrative support within the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence at Baylor University in the early afternoon and/or evening. The ideal candidate will have the necessary experience and abilities to do the following: 

• Commit to the full semester and final exam week
• Attend all SACE trainings and meetings
• Abide by all SACE study hall policies
• Comply with all NCAA and Baylor Athletics policies
• Operate according to all University policies
• Maintain high standards of academic integrity and conduct
• Develop and maintain strong rapport with SACE by communicating in email and in person about student-athletes’ academic progress
• Assist students in a designated academic subject or discipline as needed
• Foster educational growth and development; identify educational needs and provide assistance as necessary
• Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
• Assist as needed with daily responsibilities related to tutorial program
• Demonstrate excellent time management, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Provide information and excellent customer service to constituents

A Bachelor's Degree and a Christian faith are required. A Master's Degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience are preferred. 

_ Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. _

What You Will Do

The Learning Assistant may be responsible for any combination of the duties listed below, based on the strengths of the candidate and the needs of the department:  

• Teaching study, organizational, and transitional skills as they relate to the assigned student-athletes’ college-level courses
• Supplementing college-level course instruction to assist with mastering content, navigating assignments, and preparing for assessments
• Assisting the Tutor Coordinator with daily adjustments to scheduled academic sessions, including entering and communicating cancellations, time adjustments, and requests for additional support
• Conducting observations of student-employee Mentors and Tutors and providing constructive feedback 
• Formatting and disseminating daily academic session reports
• The ability to interact with a range of constituents within the Athletics department and great attention to detail are critical in this role. The ideal candidate should have prior teaching and/or tutoring experience. 
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
• Ability to comply with University policies.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
