Strength and Conditioning Coach/Associate Head Football Coach (Internal Only)

Assist the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Performance, as well as the Coordinator of Sports Performance in the programming and coaching of strength and conditioning programs for varsity student athletes (75%). Assist the Varsity Football Coach as Associate Head Football Coach (25%).
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Performance and Director of Athletics and Recreation for the Strength and Conditioning Coach responsibilities and Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics and Recreation for Associate Head Football Coach responsibilities.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises part-time staff, subordinate classified and student personnel assigned to the area.
CORE DUTIES – Strength and Conditioning:
· Create year-round strength and conditioning programing for Varsity student athletes and teams in collaboration with the Sports Performance staff, the Sports Medicine staff, and coaches.
· Coach and Supervise Teams Strength and Conditioning sessions and guided open lift sessions for varsity student athletes and teams.
· Assist in the creation of Sports Performance programs beyond strength and conditioning programs (i.e. speed training, nutrition, jump training) including educational material and social media posts.
· Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance and Coordinator of Sports Performance in the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating professional and/or student staff for all areas of responsibility.
· Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance and Coordinator of Sports Performance in upholding established rules, regulations, policies and procedures for the health, safety, and well-being of the student athletes.
· Make recommendations to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance and Coordinator of Sports Performance regarding the inventory, budgeting, planning, justification and purchasing of equipment and supplies needed for the Sports Performance programs.
· Participate in continuing education and professional development to maintain current evidence-based knowledge and skills in the area of health, safety and sports performance as established by NSCA, NASM, NCAA, ACSM and other related governing bodies.
· Assists Coordinator of Sports Performance in the supervision of all maintenance and sanitation issues relating to fitness equipment and facility usage in all Strength and Conditioning facilities.
· Participate in regular communication and meetings with Sports Medicine and Sports Performance team.
· Model professional behavior for students and staff including, but not limited to, demeanor, attire, and preparedness.
· Supervise student interns assigned to the Sports Performance Program for academic requirements.
· Maintain current certification in professional organization(s) (NSCA-CSCS and CSCCa), that certify strength and conditioning personnel.
CORE DUTIES – Associate Head Football Coach:
· Assist the head coach in teaching skills and strategies for football in the traditional and non- traditional seasons.
· Coach football team members individually and in groups and demonstrate appropriate game techniques.
· Planning and directing team practices to encourage and develop student-athlete skills and game techniques.
· Develop and recommend strategy, teach theoretical skills and position assignments.
· Coordinate year-round instruction with players in accordance with University, Conference and NCAA bylaws and regulations.
· Monitor and oversee the academic development of football student-athletes, ensuring academic progress to graduation.
· With appropriate certification from a nationally recognized governing body, develop in football student-athletes an understanding of proper sports nutrition, personal health, and safe strength development.
· Create a positive and healthy team culture that encourages learning and development.
· Additional support duties as assigned by Head Coach that may include any of the following: assisting in developing and implementing community service-learning programs, organizing and directing a comprehensive student-athlete support program including promotion of the program, leadership development and student-athlete motivation through programs such as Peer Mentors, Captain’s Council and SAAC, developing and implementing a comprehensive recruiting plan, fundraising and alumni relations
· Assist the Office of Equal Opportunity /Title IX Coordinator office as a designated responsible employee with regard to incidents of sexual or gender-based harm or discrimination.
· Plan and implement assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the programs, services, and activities within your core duties
· Adhere to and support all rules, conditions and regulations as set forth by Bridgewater State University, Conference affiliations and the National Collegiate Athletic Association pertaining to all aspects of the team’s management.
· Develop and implement intentional programs, services and activities within your core duties that will meet the unique needs of all student populations.
· Utilize diversity and social justice practices to promote student success as it relates to your core duties.
· Bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreation, human performance, or related field required.
· Three years’ experience as Strength and Conditioning Coach
· Three years’ experience as a collegiate football coach
· Current certification as Strength and Conditioning specialist/coach (NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa)
· Current certification in first aid and CPR with AED.
· Ability to coach, cue and demonstrate correct technique in all movements and lifts.
· Successful completion of NCAA DIII Rules Test for Coaches by the 2nd full week of the playing and practice season
· Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (i.e., students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, administration, and community)
· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as playing and practice seasons schedule dictates.
· Ability to lift 25 lbs. with appropriate accommodation.
· Master’s Degree
· Experience with Teamworks recruiting database management software
