The University of Findlay, a leading mid-western regional university with nationally recognized equestrian degree programs, invites applications for the position of Supplemental Assistant Coach for the Western Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) team.
Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and should possess a strong background in IHSA competition. This is a part-time, supplemental and non-benefitted position to begin immediately. The following responsibilities are required of the assistant coach, in collaboration with the head coach of the IHSA Hunt Seat team:
1) Conduct oneself as a professional and as a representative of the University of Findlay,
regardless of venue.
2) Ensure that team members conduct themselves as representatives of the University of
Findlay and obey all strictures placed upon the student body of the University.
3) Maintain current knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the sport.

3) Maintain current knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the sport.
4) Maintain current UF driver’s validation through the Physical Plant.
5) Maintain current CPR and first-aid certification.
6) Engage in active recruitment of prospective students for the degree program(s) and who
show potential to become a member of the respective equestrian team.
7) Assist with tryouts and team selection.
8) Be present at scheduled practices and assist in instruction.
9) Order team-wear and meet with team members to approve show clothing.
10) Assist in the arrangement of transportation, food, lodging, and show entries for the respective team, horses, tack and gear for all events where the team will participate.
11) Supervise the team while at and traveling to and from events.
12) Select team members to warm up and hold horses and supervise re-rides during events.
13) When appropriate, plan: horse draws, horse assignments, coaches meetings, programs,
judges, stewards, announcers, food truck, gate keepers, tack and equipment to be used for
events.
14) Stay within the budget allotted for the team.
15) Work collaboratively with barn and equestrian department personnel to ensure the best environment during practices and competitions for the team.
16) Act as head coach should that person be unable to do so for any reason.
